Delhi 34, TriValley 0

Delhi traveled to Grahamsville, NY to face TriValley’s Bears. While the Bears lost their primary players from a year ago, they showed no intimidation in playing tough against the ‘Dogs. TriValley held Delhi scoreless in the 1^st and 3^rd quarters, and held Brenton Hood to a 4.2 yard per carry average. 12 Delhi rushes went for 1 or less yards, as the Bears worked a very physical game on defense. Delhi’s offense was still a bit too much however, as the ‘Dogs were still able to come up with 16 first downs and 377 yards, but it was much harder than the stat sheet showed.

Delhi’s defense continued to do a great job, pitching the first shutout since week 4 last season. Delhi allowed 117 total yards, with 20 of that coming on the first 2 plays, and 35 more coming on the final series with Delhi heavy into the bench. Delhi allowed a total of 6 first downs, but, again, 1 was after the first play, and 3 were during the final series. James Card recorded a team-high 10 tackles in a great effort.

The passing game came alive with 2 TD’s. After an interception and a couple incompletions, Pat O’Connell was able to hit Chad Rockefeller on a 63 yard TD catch and run, and a 12 yarder to Ryan Weale. Delhi showed its overall balance by having a different person score each TD in the game.

Delhi returns to Section IV action this weekend when they face defending Class C state champion Sidney in a rematch of last years Section IV Class C final game.
