Delhi took out its
frustrations from the previous week by flexing its muscles against an
overmatched Seton Catholic Central team on Saturday.
Delhi set the tone early,
holding Seton to negative yardage on their first possession, and then scoring on
their second play from scrimmage on a Brenton Hood 52 yard run. Delhi
dominated the game, holding Seton to just 5 first downs, while running up just
under 397 yards of offense, even though the starting running backs only combined
for 12 carries. Hood and Jason Wake each had 2 TD’s, and Taylor Sohns got his
first TD of the year by returning an interception 36 yards. Seton was able to
tally a 4th quarter TD against the Delhi reserves on a 46 yard run by
Jeremy Sedelmeyer.
Delhi used its dominance to
give the opportunity to exercise the passing game. Pat O’Connell was able to
complete 5 of 8 passes for 58 yards to 4 different receivers. Another good
completion to Sohns was called back on a holding penalty.
Seton is rewarded for its
hard night with a contest against Sidney next weekend. Delhi hosts Greene on
Saturday to determine the second playoff representative from division
5.
