Record: 7-2

Key Players: Rich Mokay (TB/DB), Warren Kelly (QB), Cory Ackerly (OT/DT), Brian MacIntosh (OT/DT, Brooks McMurry (TE/LB)

Highlights: The previous season’s talented group of sophomores was supplemented by a new group of 5 sophomores on the varsity.

The Dogs opened the season at home against BGA, and looked dominant in a very strong first half. The defense faded a bit in the second half however, and BGA mounted a comeback that pus them just a whisker away from tying the game, but Delhi pulled it out in the end. Delhi went on to score a close victory over Sus Valley and an impressive victory over Windsor.

Delhi went down to Walton with the Warriors looking completely impressive. Walton’s Kirk Aikens was just dominating the season. Delhi fought a bitterly tough battle, and had the lead at halftime. Aikens proved to be too much however. He provided a long TD run, and long TD catch and run, and two very key 17-18 yard catches when Delhi had Walton at 3rd and long. Walton won by a TD, and went on to win the class C state championship.

Soon after, the Dogs faced a tough Unatego team. The Dogs weren’t expecting this kind of a fight, and went down in a close game. The two losses kept the Dogs from the playoffs.

The team was led by the running of junior Rich Mokay. Junior Matt Burkert and sophomore Zach Berliner did an outstanding job splitting time at FB. Most of Warren Kelly’s passing yards went to either Mokay or sophomore TE Brooks McMurry.

The defense was led by linebackers Berliner and senior Matt Minneman. Cory Ackerly and Burkert led the line.

With a number of starting seniors that you could count on one hand, all eyes were set on 1995…..
